Both the PFA-4 and the PFA-5 offer exactly the same features. The difference is a bare bone wholesale circuit, or a little more expensive mounted in the enclosure.
A. Power input terminals, which is a dual power supply. Comes set-up for 2 x 9 volt batteries = 18 volts. Minimum power supply = 3 volts, Maximum supply = 36 volts. The 3 terminals are marked as 0, + and - volts supplies. Mains transformers (single power supply) can be used. Connect the + power to the + terminal on the PFA-4/5, and the ground (0 volts) to the (-) terminal on the PFA-4/5
B. Frequency input terminals. Has a lead with a 3.5mm stereo connector that connects to the sound out from computer, MP3 player, CD player. This lead connects to where headphone or speakers are connected to. This lead is identified by having a black cable tie attached to it. The signal amplitude needs to be 200mV (1/5 of a volt) or greater for the PFA series to process correctly.
C. Signal out terminals. Connected are the + and - electrode leads with alligator clips. Electrodes are attached to these leads.
D. Microphone lead has a 3.5mm stereo plug and connects to the microphone input on computer or notebook computer. This allows for monitoring the frequency signal in FreX's oscilloscope and spectrum display. Useful for setting sine waves, and other audio wave shapes. This displays the signal as it goes through the electrodes so you can view the effect of a load placed on the electrodes. This lead differs from the frequency input lead by NOT having a cable tie attached near the connector. This lead is optional and doesn't need to be connected for the operation of the PFA-4 and PFA-5 amplifier.
E. Microphone signal level control dial. This dial is identified by a label on the circuit and it does not have a black plastic knob attached. Clockwise rotation increase the microphone signal. Is used to set the level of the signal going to the computer's microphone port for FreX oscilloscope and spectrum monitoring.
F. Is the Power Level control knob. At frequencies below 1,000Hz, 18 volts can be too much and you will be required to reduce the power level to a comfortable setting. You will see the signal drop/increase in the FreX oscilloscope as you adjust this dial. It has a black knob attached so it is easy to identify it against the microphone control dial. Clockwise adjustment increases the power level.
G. Is the AC/DC signal setting switch. In AC mode the frequency will have changing polarities in relation to 0 volts. I.E. half the frequency waveform will be in the + polarity, and the other half of the signal will be in the (-) minus signal polarity. When using DC settings, you have a non polarity changing signal and is termed (positive off-set) by Dr Hulda Clark. This is quite a powerful function of the PFA series and allows compliance to all disciplines of frequency therapy.
H. Is the Square/Audio switch. I suggest you leave this in Square mode, which selects the PFA high performance square waves. Harmonics from the PFA Square Wave will produce valued harmonic signals upto 2,000,000Hz (2MHz) - The use of sine waves and other signal shapes is more for therapist use, people that are experienced in frequency therapy and desire to research and study the effect of other wave form shapes that FreX produces. Sine waves are typically used for stimulating organs, and treating muscles and inflammation pain. Also used for advanced studies of generating resonance at a specific frequency. Harmonic signals do not get produced when using sine waves.
I. This is the ON/OFF Power switch. A red led will be illuminated when on. When the red light becomes dim, battery replacement is required.
Differences Between The PFA-4 and PFA-5 Biological Amplifiers
1. The PFA-5 is mounted in a tough moisture resistant polycarbonate enclosure (115 x 90 x 55mm) where the PFA-4 is mounted on a sheet of timber.
2. The PFA-5 uses 12 x AA batteries which will give a life of many hundreds of hours. The PFA-4 uses 2 x 9 volt batteries (same voltage but the batteries will have less life (20 to 30 hours of use)
3. The PFA-4 does offer easy changing of wires to connectors via simple screw terminals. The PFA-5 requires leads with Banana Jacks attached.
The PFA-5 requires more hours to build so it is a little more expensive.
The quality of components and signal output are exactly the same in both devices.
Both devices have the same bio-impedance circuit for keeping the frequency wave shapes true under load. Without the bio-impedance circuit, high harmonics do suffer in strength and number.
The PFA-4 is also tough, you can swing it around your head by its leads and not hurt it.
Allow 1 to 2 weeks prior to the FreX-PFA-Series being despatched. I try and keep items on the shelf, but not often possible.
Life time warranty. If at any time your FreX-PFA-Series stops working, then if you pay for delivery, we will repair or replace it for free and ship it back to you.

Batteries are nolonger included. Australia Post recommends not to send batteries by international air cargo - atmospheric pressures and scanning devices can and do flatten them. I will advise what batteries to purchase locally when you place an order.
NOTE: The PFA amplifiers are available to Australians for veterinary applications. Outside Austrialia, the PFA amplifiers can be used for any purpose.
